3 Issues Your Asphalt Driveway Can Experience

An asphalt driveway can look really beautiful and improve the value and curb appeal of your home. However, asphalt driveways are not always perfect, which is why you need to know how to handle and deal with your asphalt driveway.

Potholes

One of the worst issues your asphalt driveway can experience is potholes. Potholes are not only ugly to look at, but they can also be damaging to your vehicle. A pothole can cause you to get a flat tire, damage your car's exhaust system, and damage your alignment and shocks.

Potholes are generally caused by rain and snow, along with heavy traffic on your driveway. With a pothole, the surface of your driveway will experience damage, and the subsurface is at risk as well.

As soon as you start to see a pothole forming in your driveway, you will want to bring in a professional to repair it. They can fill in the pothole and pat it down, helping to solidify the structure. They can inject a spray into the hole and then patch it. If you have lots of serious potholes, you may actually need to replace your driveway.

Cracks

One of the most common driveway issues is cracks. Cracks may seem like minor cosmetic issues, but they will turn into a significant structural complication if you leave them alone. Cracks develop for several reasons. They can develop because the ground under your driveway shifts. They can develop due to improper compacting. They can also develop due to a high-water table.

When you notice cracks, you are going to want to take care of them right away. A professional parking paving contractor can come out and cold patch all the cracks. If you plan on seal coating your driveway, you will want to fill any cracks in first. If you seal coat over the top of cracks, they will rise to the top again.

Crumbing

Another issue that you may notice is crumbling along the sides of your driveway. This can happen due to the way the driveway was constructed and sealed. Weather and moisture-related issues can also cause crumbling.

If you start to notice that the edge of your driveway is crumbling, you will want to bring in a paving contractor. If done right away, they can clean, fill, and seal up the edges of your driveway. If not addressed soon enough, you may need to replace your driveway.

If your asphalt driveway is experiencing potholes, cracks, or crumbling, put in a call to a paving repair contractor, for example, you can hire one from New England Paving. They will come out and fix the damage and fix any underlying issues that could be contributing to the damage. They will get your driveway looking and functioning great again.
